Angus Leary
With 30 years of experience in the New England construction market, Angus has a wealth of construction management knowledge and has served in every key position of a construction project team. Beginning his career as a carpenter, he understands building from the ground up — and that hands-on foundation shapes how he leads every project today.
Angus is a hands-on leader who remains involved in his clients' projects from beginning to end. His experience allows him to navigate clients through entitlement, pre-construction and construction in the most efficient and predictable way.
Angus graduated from Amherst College and received his executive MBA from Harvard Business School.

Steve Carley — Vice President of Operations, Project Executive
With over 35 years of experience in construction management, Steve has successfully completed projects of all sizes and types in the Northeast and on the West Coast. He has held a variety of positions in the industry, starting with his own painting company and rising through the ranks of commercial construction as a project engineer, estimator, assistant project manager, superintendent, project manager and project executive.
Steve provides seamless construction management across all project phases, from conception to completion and beyond. A hands-on leader, he personally oversees the project team and is a presence on-site throughout the life of a project — mitigating risk, resolving issues and coordinating communication between our employees, subcontractors and clients while monitoring schedule, budget, value and quality.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University, has completed OSHA 10 and 30 hour training, is NFPA 241 certified, and is Red Cross CPR and First Aid certified. Steve is also a LEED® Accredited Professional and a Certified Passive House Builder.
Scott MacLeod — Project Executive
Scott is a construction executive with more than 35 years of experience spanning multifamily housing, commercial, retail, senior living, education, and high-rise construction. Over his career he has managed projects ranging from $6M to $200M, working across wood-frame, structural steel, and concrete structures — including notable Boston-area landmarks such as a 21-story convention center hotel and major office and residential towers.
He oversees and supports project teams through every phase, from pre-construction and buyout to closeout and client relations, while mentoring junior staff and helping shape long-term business planning.
Scott holds an unrestricted New England Construction Supervisor’s license, is a Certified Passive House Builder, and earned a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Nicolaj Daugaard McHowell — Project Manager
Nicolaj brings an international perspective and a builder’s hands-on foundation to the Angus project management team. He started in the trades — framing, masonry, concrete, and waterproofing — before rising to foreman and then into project management, a path that gives him a practical command of how work actually gets built.
His management experience spans higher-education, commercial, industrial, and multifamily projects on both sides of the Atlantic, including university work, high-end commercial renovations, distribution-center upgrades, and a 28-unit senior assisted-living and public-housing development in Greenland where he oversaw crews of up to 50 across trades. He handles estimating, buyout, subcontractor qualification, site management, RFIs, submittals, BIM coordination, and closeout.
Nicolaj holds a Bachelor of Architectural Technology and Construction Management from VIA University in Denmark and works fluently in both English and Danish.
Nick Valicenti — Assistant Project Manager
Nick brings a strong operations background to the Angus project management team. He began his career in the field as a field engineer and assistant superintendent on large-scale multifamily and institutional projects across Greater Boston — including a 465-unit, $150M+ apartment complex in Quincy and a $50M institute of technology building in Roxbury that he helped deliver on time for the start of classes.
That on-site experience now informs his work as an Assistant Project Manager, where he handles buyout, submittals, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
A licensed Construction Supervisor with OSHA 30 and Procore certifications, Nick holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Wesleyan University, where he was also captain of the varsity baseball team.
Jake Chory — Superintendent
Jake is a highly respected Superintendent with over 15 years of experience delivering complex construction projects across Massachusetts. Known for his leadership, problem-solving ability, and deep technical knowledge, he has built a reputation for running some of the most organized and efficient job sites in the industry.
His expertise spans every phase of construction — from preconstruction planning and scheduling through safety management, quality control, and final delivery. Jake’s hands-on approach, clear communication, and unwavering commitment to excellence consistently earn the trust of clients, trade partners, and project teams alike, and he takes great pride in completing every project safely, on time, and to the highest professional standard.
Before joining Angus, Jake served as a Superintendent and MEP Super on major Boston-area projects with Turner Construction, and he holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is a MA-licensed Construction Supervisor, MA Hoisting Engineer, and a Phius / Passive House Certified Builder.
Michael Pirello — Senior Superintendent
Mike brings over 25 years of experience in the construction industry and is widely recognized across Massachusetts as one of the best in the field. He has successfully led projects of every scale — from detailed renovations to large, ground-up developments and complex adaptive-reuse projects.
A proven team leader, Mike is proficient in all facets of construction management, including procurement, engineering coordination, scheduling, logistics, permitting, subcontractor oversight, change management, and daily on-site operations. He applies his deep expertise to every project, ensuring it is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Before joining Angus, Mike spent a decade as a General Superintendent with Turner Construction, delivering major institutional and commercial projects across Greater Boston. He holds a Boston Builders License (Full High Rise) and MA Construction Supervisor and Hoisting Engineer licenses, is a Phius / Passive House Certified Builder, and studied Civil Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and UMass Lowell.
